Golau Glau are six months old today. So, to combine the twin disciplines of festivity and half-birthdays, the band have released their Christmas effort, free for you to distribute as you see fit. If you’ve listened to ‘Goll Eye Gly’ (as it’s pronounced, apparently) before, it’ll be no surprise to you just how messed up this is. The a-side is about when the Puritans banned Christmas for thirteen years, and it sounds like a lute having a fight with a synth. It’s definitely seasonal, but more in an Elizabethen, let’s-hope-we-don’t-freeze-to-death kind of way rather than sitting in front of the telly, desperately reading Adrian Mole and eating mince pies. The second track supposedly combines Greek tragedy and Doctor Who – don’t ask. Either way, it’s definitely a welcome addition to the burgeoning alternative yuletide market. Listen to Foolstide below:
