WE ARE SCIENTISTS – RULES DON’T STOP
It’s been about 5 years since every college wannabe cool kid decided that We Are Scientists were the most important band to walk the earth. Since then, the ascent has faltered somewhat, but the band with the most beautiful frontman in the history of popular music are still going – and giving away the lead single from their upcoming album ‘Barbara’ as well, through RCRD LBL. Indie pop might not be en vogue at the minute, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to stop trying.
BEAR DRIVER – A THOUSAND SAMURAIS
Bear Driver are hotly tipped, and it’s not hard to see why. Describing themselves as a ‘weird psychedelic-pop-rock’ band, their debut single ‘Wolves’ has just been announced and, like all good bands do, they’ve given away a track as well. Download from the soundcloud above.
MI AMI – LATIN LOVER
Any chance to listen to Mi Ami is one that should be taken with both hands. They’re touring later in the year (having only recently finished one), and they’re supposedly one of the most formidable live acts on the planet. having to review them, on the other hand, is an absolute nightmare – something glaringly obvious to anyone who struggled through reading a recent review on The Line of Best Fit. Written by me.
DIRTY PROJECTORS – ASCENDING MELODY EP
Absolute darlings of the critics, Dirty projectors have slowly built up a fan base across their almost decade-long career. Last year’s Bitte Orca was on pretty much every end of year list by anyone with any sense, and their second effort with Domino should be out later in the year. They’re playing Manchester too on the 6th of July, and if they don’t sell out Manchester Academy 2, the city’#s music lovers will have a lot to answer for.
