After absolutely stealing the weekend with their performance at Sounds from the Other City, it’s impressive to note just how quick the ascent of Ghost Outfit has been on Manchester’s live scene. In the space of around two months they’ve gone from doing the odd good show to genuinely being talked about as the best new band in the region. Live, the duo are undeniably impressive, using the age old two-piece method of making the kind of racket that would put most full bands to shame, but still having a depth to their sound that, say, Japandroids miss out on.
The only problem from a bloggers point of view is that the recordings released so far don’t capture that bewitching intensity, settling more for lo-fi hiss than the nuanced production it deserves. Whilst we can all dream of a Bratwell produced LP, we can rest assured of a 7″ forthcoming on Sways Records, but in the mean time you can check the twosome chilling out on a magic bus, doing stripped back versions of their stomping live set staples.
