It’s pathetic when you realise that you’re purposely into music that makes itself obtuse and difficult to listen to, ostracising yourself just in the name of being a bit cooler than your friends – even though they generally don’t give a fuck about it all. But sometimes, you need a bit of an edge to a pop song to give it a bit of life, like the new music saint that is Gross Magic did recently with his track Sweetest Touch or, as it turns out, Acid Glasses are doing with this track.
Based in Memphis, for anyone wanting a visual metaphor, it’s best to imagine someone eating the one decent song that gets into the popular music charts a year and then immediately throwing it up, violently – perhaps all shot on a super 8, or something less clichéd and blogspeak. It’s rasping and catchy, which is all anyone should ever need.
