It happens to me every single year – i go to a festival, then i get back and a few months later I look at the line-up and see one band I’d do anything to see. And I missed them because I was too drunk in my tent. Last year it was Battles who took up that honour – but they’ll be getting promoted in the next couple of days. However, this series is about giving you a fighting chance of seeing the next big thing whilst they’re still small. i was (un)lucky enough to see Arctic Monkeys in the smallest tent at Leeds festival 2005, and drastically unlucky to see Klaxons in the same arena a year later. This summer, however, you should look out for White Denim.
I know I’m not the best at predicting stuff – i thought The Spinto band would be the biggest thing on the whole of the planet by now – but I’ll give it a shot. After hearing their trademark song, Let’s talk about it, there’s no way you can’t be infected with their lo-fi sound. hailing from Austen, texas, this three piece are destined to be future cover stories of the NME, and will be rocking a festival (or gig, whatever) near you very soon.
