How have I not blogged about these guys yet? Seriously, Moscow Olympics are one of my favourite bands at the moment, they make some pretty laid back, listenable guitar based music with the kind of vocals you’d expect froma shoegaze band – something that has obviously influenced them. they’re adventerous with the instrumental based songs, and don’t seem to care about the conventions of genre or even applying themselves to a genre. I sound like such a wanker but seriously, they are amazing. Something a bit more relaxed to make you all excited about life and stuff. Or maybe i’m just getting too excited.
Anyway, here’s your basic facts. they’re a four piece from the phillipines (yeah, that’s right) and their influences are My bloody valentine (always a good sign) and Sarah Records (again, always a good sign). They describe their sound as ‘running out of breath’, which is a pretty good description as far as ironic myspace profiles go. Their debut record, ‘Cut the world’ was released by Lavender records last year and appears to be sold out now. however, that doesn’t even have their best song on it (which, in my opinion, is Still). I don’t know what to say – they don’t appear to be touring or anything. hopefully, this post will start a craze and everyone will want to see them and then Moscow Olympics can play a gig with lucky Lucky pigeons and everything will be great in the world. Until then, here’s some of their music you should download and then BUY as
soon as it is re-released.
