I’m not a very good blogger. I’ll be honest, I’m a terrible blogger. i don’t fully understand how it all works and i’m still sceptical about it all, and live in constant fear that it’s all going to end in tears. Also, you might notice my email address floating somewhere around the left hand side of the screen – an invite for people to get in touch with me. Because of this, I constantly get updates from bands that no-one in their right minds would listen to – mainly from a PR guy that represents bland James blunt forerunner David Gray. Nearly every other day I get an update from some bloke, advising me on how I can embed his new video, or how I can give away his new track for free.
But in amongst all this rubbish, I do get some good stuff. yesterday, I got an e-mail about Good Shoes latest release, which was nice. And a few months ago, someone representing jam on bread mailed me and gave me a link to download a split EP he was doing for free. Small perks, but still, perks. Anyway, yesterday i was going through my e-mails and I came across one from a band named Golau Glau. I didn’t remember it, but the name piqued my interest enough to look into them a bit more. After poking around their last.fm, I finally got to listening to some of their songs – which are, it turns out, quite brilliant. The fact that they’re quite protective about their identites will only add to comparisons with The Knife. And not The Knife on a bad day, either. out of all the songs that i’ve got my hands on (courtesy of thhe band themselves – they give them all out free), Snap is my current favourite, and it’s beautiful and dreamy. I know I sound like a wanker, but I am sorry. They manage to sound both refreshingly new and eerily familiar at the same time. Definitely a diamond in amongst all my David gray e-mail rough.
Anyway, here’s a link for you to get yr hands upon all the fun tunes you want from the band. Virtual Boy is pretty good as well, seemingly an ode to a piece of technology that i though everyone but me had forgotten.
