In what is probably the biggest news of the entire century, Los Campesinos! have revealed on their blog/website that they are penned in to support The Cribs on three dates at the end of the year. I, for one, have not heard any news this good in about six years, and when I read it, it made me feel sick. But I had just had a magnum white, so maybe it was just the aftershocks of having so much sugar?
Either way, all the details are up on the LC! website if you want to have a look. And if you don’t, there’s a snippet from it here:
“It is a great honour to announce that we have been asked by the Cribs to support them in some massive, triumphant end of year shows.
Wednesday 2 December Birmingham o2 Academy
Saturday 5 December Doncaster Dome
Sunday 6 December Edinburgh Corn Exchange
This has been a big year for Los Campesinos! and this seems the perfect icing on the cake for us. I am so excited to do these shows that I was even prepared to sell my My Bloody Valentine ATP tickets. But it’s not every day you get the chance to live Sean Smith’s dream and play at Birmingham O2 Academy, and it is a true privilege to be invited to do so with a band as big and as good as the Cribs. Thank you very much.”
Though this might be the best thing to ever happen since the beginning of humankind, it’s also very bad news for me: it’s a straight choice between dipping into my overdraft spending a night in Doncaster or spending the rest of my life weeping. If you’ve ever been through Donny, you might understand.
Here’s a free download LC! put on their old website – a recording from the first album that was never otherwise used, I think:
And here’s a cover of Kaiser Cheif’s ‘Modern Way’ by The Cribs. The original was terrible, and this one isn’t much better, either. but it’s nice to have it:
My overdraft isn’t looking too healthy after it also emerged that other favourites of this blog, Internet Forever and Dananananaykroyd are playing with LC! in Cardiff this coming September. I chose the wrong time to be unemployed.
Anyway, I hope to be at both of these gigs. if not, then there will probably be a very angry entry on this blog instead.
Here’s your freebies for the day. I’d give you another IF hit, but they don’t have that many songs yet. Instead, here’s some Lake Wobegone, one of the many many other bands that go into making IF:
If you haven’t noticed, my last Internet forever post has been UPDATED! with more news direct from the band. AND BREAK BONES JUST CAME ON SHUFFLE! Wow, what a day. You had some Danananaykroyd yesterday, so here’s some more:
I hope to see you at some of the gigs. Though not if it means that they sell out before I manage to buy some tickets.
