For whatever reason, I presumed that Maths Class were a lot bigger and a lot more established than they are. I also presumed that I’d written about them many months ago, but it turns out I didn’t. Sorry.
Anyway, onto the band. There are places about calling them ‘math-rock’, but that simply doesn’t work. 65daysofstatic are math rock. This is math-pop. It might sound catty, but it isn’t – this is glorious, accessible music that buzzs with energy and generally lasts about three minutes. Even compared to forward, russia they seem poppy – and there were many people who said that they were on the poppier sound of math.
They released their debut EP in 2008, Now this will take two hands. Whilst an album should be allowed to let it’s songs breath and give them space, Maths class understood the shorter length – their EP is a breif, sharp shock, and is filled with songs that can only make you want to dance. It’ll most likely eb next to wankers with shit haircuts, but, then again, it always is.
And their last single is available to download from their myspace for free. All they want is yr e-mail adress.
