Given that Fuck Buttons played Manchester’s Deaf Institute last night and I went to the Ritz to see the minorest of celebrities say hello to a crowd instead, I’m going to try and make myself feel more positive about the week ahead by promoting the support band for a gig I hope to be at this sunday – That of Male Bonding, who, as has been posted before, are supporting Nodzzz at the Bay Horse. Egyptian Hip-Hop are as well, but that would be far too much excitement for one post to possibly contain.
To start, it’s probably best to say that they’ve had a split 7″ with the excellent Pens, Graffitti Island and also with Eat Skull. That’s something that any noise-rock band would be proud to put onto their CV, and they’ve got even more in the pipeline. They claim to sound like an ‘obviously more pop version of Sonic Youth’, which is probably about right – but it’ll probably be a fair few years before they can be played/sold in Starbucks.
Oh, but in a twist of fate that google has just informed me of, they’re now signed to Sub Pop, who rarely put out anything less than sublime. Look forward to hearing more of them in the future, but for the minute, here’s a link to a song from their split EP with Pens:
