I didn’t think that anybody actually came from Royal Lemington Spa. I’ve heard the name about and I accepted it existed, but I didn’t think that anybody would actually pop up from there. But if Post War Years prove anything, it’s that there are at least 4 people in the world that do. Coincidentally, they also make music that sounds prettty good.
There sound is somewhere in the math-rock genre and, as ever, there’s more than a hint of Battles in there, but they’re nowhere near as frantic. They’ve already got their debut album out and have clearly got fans all over the world – November sees them travelling to the United Arab Emirates to play at the Irish Village Outdoor Arena – which is probably the Dubai equivalent of those ex-pat pubs you see in Spain that serve fried breakfast and have John Smith’s on tap. Anyway, their songs are great and they have names like ‘Soul Owl”, which conjures up some amazing images – it even samples an Owl’s hoot at the end of the song. If you’d fancy seeing them, you can on the following dates:
|Fri 30th||SLAK BAR ‘WALK THE LINE FESTIVAL’||CHELTENHAM|
|Sat 31st||UNIT ‘We Are Rock Stars’||SOUTHAMPTON|
|Tue 3rd||THE CORNER||MANCHESTER|
|Sat 7th||DUBAI SOUND CITY – IRISH VILLAGE OUTDOOR ARENA||DUBAI – UNITED ARAB EMIRATES|
And here’s a nice track for you:
