When a band’s name is a T.S. Eliot ‘The Waste Land’ reference, you’re pretty much onto a good thing. As well as having impeccable taste in poetry, Manchester’s Hyacinth Girl make some brilliant, dirty low fidelity garage rock. Their sound is one that’s raw in the best possible sense, making a sound that’s energetic and incredibly powerful. With just over 200 friends on myspace and only 2 listeners on last.fm, it’s fair to say that they’re far from well known at the minute. However, they’re playing with some other awesome bands too. As well as featuring alongside Die! Die! Die! and the amazing Veronica Falls in the past, they’ve got gigs upcoming with Waiters as well as the Carefully Planned Christmas All-Dayer.
