If one of the best live bands are touring and they’re in support of a super-group who’ve madeone of the most encouraging debuts of the past few years, it’s pretty required that you will be there. This May, Parenthetical Girls and Former Ghosts will be bussing around the UK before jetting to mainland Europe and performing their songs. Rarely has there been such an amazing double team, Xiu Xiu, Zola Jesus and This Song is a Mess but so am I combining for the headliners, whilst the new Parenthetical Girls line-up should be just as brilliant as the last one consistently was. Whilst five dates are confirmed, there’s an obvious gap in the schedule. Leeds may only be an hour or so away by train, but it may as well be a foreign land. So, promoters of Manchester, please pick up the slack, otherwise I’ll be spending a night sleeping on the streets of Leeds, high from what will likely be on of the best gigs of the year.
Here’s the dates in the UK/Ireland:
May 16 – Freebutt, Brighton
May 17 – 10 Feet Tall, Cardiff
May 19 – The Common Place, Leeds
May 20 – Twisted Pepper, Dublin
May 22 – Luminaire, London
Former Ghosts – The Bull and the Ram
Parenthetical Girls – Evelyn McHale [last.fm]
