EGYPTIAN HIP HOP – WILD HUMAN CHIlD (MIDIMIDIS REMIX)
They look like they should be your friend’s young brothers and they’ve got all the hype in the world. They do, however, keep pushing up amazing tracks, as Wild Human Child demonstrates, back up by their continually brilliant live performances. MidiMidis remixes are increasingly gaining recognition, and this reworking will do nothing to slow that.

ISLET – JASMINE
Contrary to popular belief, they do now in fact have a website. Despite taking the plunge into the hyper-reality of the world wide web, their mystique is still there, firmly locked within their sound. A revelation when playing live, they’re happy to prove that they’re just as potent on record, with their debut EP coming out on Shape this June. TLOBF have given the track away as their free.

MAKE RECORDINGS EP + REMIX EP
The cassette has been pretty much dead for about a decade now, but that won’t stop people releasing on it. Laura Wolf’s Tape Alarm label is one example, but it is Make Recordings who are teaming the medium up with downloads to put out some pretty interesting stuff. Using bandcamp to host the 6 tracks, it’s got a startling modern sound for a label based around a format that looked out of date by the time 1990 turned up, but with the odd drop of slightly more straightforward singer-songwriter stuff. Far from balanced and even further from being flawless, but a great free gift from a fledgling label. They’re even letting you have 3 tracks remixed by the main EP’S opening artist, We Are Altered

DUTCH UNCLES – THE INK (EGYPTIAN HIP HOP REMIX)
Two of the most important bands in the north today should be enough to pique your interest. If not, imagine The Ink’s pounding, math-pop being cascaded by the beautifully broken symmetry that Egyptian Hip Hop bring to everything they do.
