After being featured on an obscene amount of limited run cassettes, being features on every blog in the land and playing support at all of the best gigs in Manchester over the course of 18 or so months, it seems that the coming months will finally see Mazes get to putting out their debut record. entitled A Thousand Heys, it promises to be an extension of all those breathless garage pop tunes that has seen them fill out shows the country over.
Though singer Jack does run his own record label, it’s the people at Fat Cat records who’ve done the honorable thing and committed the whole thing to tape, and the early tracks coming from the record hint that this could be their most impressive effort yet. ‘Vampire Jive’ is being given away as a free download, whilst first single ‘Most Days’ is available to stream through Soundcloud, and both get their priorities right. The only thing valued about energy and melody is brevity, with both tracks clocking in at well under two minutes, but even if the whole thing was over within quarter of an hour you could pretty much ensure that it is going to be one of the most exciting releases of the year. get yourself warmed up with the tracks below:
