Yeah, we know that Witch house is dead, and that anyone who dares to try and use the term should be killed and that the genre itself was nothing more than an incredibly cynical attempt to get blogged about and signed to Disaro, which in turn made sure that the beating heart of all credibility was stopped and the flesh of our dignity turned cold.
But… it’s not all bad, is it? Manchester’s Temple Death take the sound and make it into something quite respectable, sexing it up with a hint of post-dubstep chill that the predecessors sorely lacked. They still use symbols in their names, but that much is a given – it’s only a matter of time before a mass of triangles and dollar signs is at number one in the charts as mainstream pop mimics a boring sub-trend in recent musical history. But this is a good track, regardless of the origins, regardless of the fact it is tagged as ‘drag’, regardless of the fact it’s not 2010 anymore.
