One of the many, many problems with running a blog based around new music is the propensity to… well… miss a few of the bright new upstarts. ICEAGE have been on everyone’s radar for a while now – even more so given they’ve got their debut coming out over here as abeano’s inaugural release – but it’s been difficult to find a reason to post about them on these pages given the masses and masses of words written elsewhere. Now, however, they’re coming to Manchester in what promises to be one of the most brutal shows of the year. Teaming up with the brilliant and mercurial Eagulls, Now Wave/Wotgodforgot are putting them on at Islington Mill, which is as good of an excuse as any to post one of the tracks of the year – New Brigade. Tickets are £6.
Meanwhile, Eagulls have unveiled a new track that captures their trademark rawness and unbridled anger, making you both worried and hopeful that they might fall even deeper into this downward spiral of bitterness and loathing.
