MYSTERY JETS – DREAMING OF ANOTHER WORLD (WOODEN SHJIPS REMIX)
Wooden Shjips must live on another planet to the rest of us – there’s not another band about that would approach a remix with such a brazenly brilliant outlook – namely, to apply their signature technique of psychedelic solos and bludgeoning ‘Dreaming of Another World’ into their own work. In fact, it might as well have been the case that Shjips used this as a song of their own – but it’s bloody brilliant either way.
CIVIL CIVIC – RUN OVERDRIVE
Born and raised in Australia, the two left those shores after doing the Melbourne rock scene to death, and it was only then that they decided to start making music together. now, from Barcelona and London, the duo craft these exquisite melodies that are completely without peer. Here’s a new track, available to download for however much you want from bandcamp.
GOLAU GLAU – UNLUTED
It’s been a while since Golau Glau released anything, but they’re back again, still possessing the same eerie soundscapes. This track in particular sounds like spring rain, taking it’s time to meander without ever really getting anywhere. Beautiful – it’s got to be a matter of time before someone gives these two a broader canvas to paint on, preferably in the form of a longplayer.
NME L.A. EP #5
feat. Warpaint, Rainbow Arabia
The final EP in the L.A. series, and it’s a fittingly spectacular end to one of the best set of free downloads around. Warpaint are yet to receive the kind of plaudits that their languid sound clearly deserves, whilst Rainbow Arabia steal the best from the world music scene and condense it into ridiculous contagious pop. The talent brimming from the area at the minute is absurd, and this EP is just a snapshot of the emerging scene.

AVI BUFFALO – REMEMBER LAST TIME
One that’s been floating around for ages, but if you haven’t already downloaded it yet, then now’s the time. Sub Pop’s hot new thing, full name Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, there’s big things in the future for this young man and his band. His debut album has been out for about a month now and it’s a cracker.
